LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Donna Hargens will open the Yearlings Club-University of Louisville fall lecture series Sept. 9 at the Yearlings Club, 4309 W. Broadway. The free, public event is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Hargens will discuss new initiatives and her plans for the school district, which she was appointed to head in 2011. Diane Porter, the Board of Education chair whose district includes western Louisville, will moderate the discussion.
Currently in its eighth year, the lecture series seeks to bring residents and university faculty members together to discuss issues, share expertise and forge common bonds. The meetings are the second Sunday of the month from September to April.
The Yearlings Club was established in 1951 and its members include representatives from corporate, government and private organizations. The club is devoted to promoting civic responsibility, community service and leadership development.
Light refreshments will be served and reservations are not required.
