LOUISVILLE, Ky.–The University of Louisville’s College of Business has created a new master of business administration degree option for people who want to succeed in the health industry.
Beginning in January, the school’s 20-month Weekend MBA program will feature a concentration in health sector management designed for professionals in fields such as hospital administration, senior care, health insurance and biomedicine.
Students in the new program can choose courses focusing on patient outcomes, provider relations and other health-management topics in addition to their regular MBA courses. They will attend class Friday evening and Saturday two out of every three weekends.
The program is geared to working professionals who want to advance in their existing careers or move to new careers in the health industry, said Charlie Moyer, UofL’s business school dean.
“We created this to fill a need in one of the region’s fastest-growing industries,” Moyer said. “It’s a fast-track solution for people who want to earn an MBA despite their demanding schedules.”
UofL’s business school offers a variety of customized MBA degrees aimed at helping students at different points in their careers. The most popular is a part-time Professional MBA degree requiring students to attend classes two nights a week and occasional Saturdays for 20 months.
Several other joint MBA degrees allow students to specialize in humanities and civic leadership, accounting, engineering, law or medicine.
The deadline to apply for admission to the MBA program offering the health-management option is Dec. 1. For more information, call Josh Philpot at 502-852-3969.
