LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A benefit production of “The Vagina Monologues,” a play by Eve Ensler about the mystery, humor and power of women’s experiences will be presented at the University of Louisville Feb. 11–13.
The production is part of V-Day University of Louisville 2010, sponsored by UofL’s Prevention, Education and Advocacy on Campus and in the Community (PEACC). This year’s production will be performed by UofL students, faculty and staff and community members.
The performances will be held each night at 7 p.m. at the Playhouse, Cardinal Boulevard between Second and Third Streets. Admission is $8 for college students with an ID and $10 for faculty, staff and community members.
The Feb. 11 performance has been designated “Men’s Day.” Men are encouraged to wear red on this day, to attend the opening night performance and stay after the show to share their reactions to the play.
V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of The Vagina Monologues and other artistic works. Proceeds from this years’ event will benefit PEACC, a program working to end violence against women at the University of Louisville. V-Day will also donate a portion of the proceeds to assist victims of violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
