LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The School of Music Opera Theatre at the University of Louisville will perform “Dialogues of the Carmelites” by Francis Poulenc at 8 p.m. April 5 and 2 p.m. April 7 at Bomhard Theater, The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, 501W. Main St.
Michael Ramach, co-director of the opera theatre, said the opera is one of the 20th century’s most important and emotionally challenging works.
“The French Revolution felled giants and left lessor people behind,” Ramach said. “The final scene stands alone and apart as one of the most powerful moments in all musical theater.
“We have an outstanding cast for the production,” Ramach said. “The focus is on the singing and acting and Claire Divizio, who will play Blanche, is a semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions. Patrick MacDevitt, who plays Chevalier, has been featured as a young artist in Kentucky Opera productions.”
Tickets are available through the Kentucky Center box office by calling 502-584-7777 and online at www.kentuckycenter.org or at the door as available. Prices are $25 for general admission and $10 for students and UofL affiliates.
