LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The works of Johannes Brahms will be featured in a new concert series for piano and strings at the UofL School of Music. Called the “Music eX Series,” four concerts will be offered this fall and winter to raise funds for piano and string student scholarships.

Dror Biran, artistic director and UofL piano professor, will perform in his first major piano series since he joined the UofL faculty. Born in Israel, Biran has been awarded top prizes in international competitions and has performed with major orchestras including the Lithuanian Philharmonic Orchestra, RTVF Symphony Orchestra in Spain and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

Biran explains that the annual series is intended to help audiences and students “eXplore, eXpress, eXemplify and eXperience works by composers ranging from the Baroque era to the present” and to help students earn scholarships.

“I want to give back,” Biran said. “Scholarships and acts of kindness opened doors for me. I came from a small country with limited opportunities and could not have followed my dreams without the aid of so many.”
